Hyderabad: Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU) recently organised a workshop titled ‘Digital Security Learning’ in collaboration with the Software Freedom Law Centre (SFLC.in). The event aimed to enhance online safety awareness and equip participants with practical tools to protect their digital lives.

The workshop was led by legal expert Syed Haroon and technologist Vignesh of SFLC. Haroon explained data breaches and privacy rights, emphasising that knowing one's rights is the first step towards safeguarding one's digital footprint. On the technical front, Vignesh explained how personal data is collected, analysed, and potentially misused—a process known as data profiling. He offered hands-on advice on threat modelling, encryption techniques, and securing social media accounts.

Presiding over the workshop, mass communication department head Prof. Mohammad Fariyad highlighted the necessity of such initiatives. "Cybersecurity is a shared responsibility, and workshops like these are essential to prepare individuals for the challenges of the digital age," he remarked.

An interactive question and answer session followed, highlighting the relevance of digital security in today's world.
