MA&UD Chief, GHMC Draw Plans to Fight Vector-Borne Diseases
Hyderabad: Municipal administration and urban development (MA&UD) principal secretary Dana Kishore conducted a comprehensive review meeting with GHMC officials to discuss preventive measures against vector-borne diseases and seasonal illnesses. During the meeting, a detailed action plan was formulated, and directives were issued to GHMC officials for its immediate implementation.
Emphasis was placed on conducting awareness programmes at Basthi Dawakhanas to educate residents and maintain a record of dengue cases. Regular Information, Education and Communication (IEC) activities were mandated, involving school children and teachers every Saturday to raise awareness about vector-borne diseases. It was decided to conduct special activities at households every Sunday to brief residents about preventive measures against vector-borne diseases.
Measures discussed
*Sending bulk messages
*Deploying 5,000 volunteers (140 per circle) for creating awareness, including at schools.
*Spraying Pyrethrum in and around at least 30 to 50 houses daily.
*Sanitation team to inspect unhygienic places and take up cleaning activity.
*Medical checkup of all members in a household where dengue cases are reported.
* Controlling mosquito breeding.
