Minister Tummala directs improved paddy storage in Telangana
Hyderabad: State agriculture minister Tummala Nageswara Rao on Wednesday instructed officials on paddy procurement and storage. He ordered them to ensure that equipment needed at the centres is provided for.
The minister met warehousing corporation MD Uday Kumar and Agros MD K. Ramulu and asked them to deploy an additional number of cleaners at the centres.
The minister directed authorities on utilising the capacity of godowns to store rice and arrangements to transport them from the centres. The minister also asked them to work in tandem with civil supplies department officials and increase storage capacity in addition to the 29.53 lakh metric tonnes currently available.
Later, after a review of the textile department, the minister asked the TSCO MD Sailaja Ramaiyer to seek orders on the needs of government departments and corporations for producing cloth.
