Hyderabad: A case was registered against an eye care hospital in the city after a minor girl fell sick due to an alleged anaesthesia overdose within the Nacharam police station limits here on Saturday. She was declared dead late in the night. Earlier in the day, according to Nacharam inspector Rudvir Kumar, the minor was shifted to another private hospital for treatment.

The girl, hailing from Ramachandrapuram, was playing with a wooden stick when a very small piece of it went into her eye. Noticing this, the parents of the girl immediately shifted her to Anand Eye Hospital in Habsiguda on Friday night.
During the treatment, the minor fell unconscious and her condition started worsening due to an anaesthesia overdose, the parents alleged. After they reached out to the police, a case was registered.
Rudvir told Deccan Chronicle, “We have not yet confirmed what exactly happened. We have registered a case against the hospital and further investigation is on. Meanwhile, the girl has been shifted to a private hospital.”
Speaking of her condition, an officer from Nacharam said that the girl was brain-dead and that chances of survival were reportedly low. As of 8.15 pm, the officer said, “She is undergoing treatment.” She was declared dead close to midnight.
