Modi Joins Kishan Reddy’s Sankranti Celebrations in Delhi
Hyderabad: Prime Minister Narendra Modi and prominent personalities from politics, cinema and sports joined the Sankranti celebrations at Union Mines Minister G. Kishan Reddy’s house in Delhi.
The celebrations began in the evening with the arrival of Narendra Modi. After lightening the lamp, Modi took part in rituals associated with Sankranti, including lightening the bonfire, Tulasi puja and ceremonial Ox and offered new clothes to Haridas.
Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, film actor Chiranajeevi, AIG Hospital chairman Dr Nageshwar Reddy, tennis player P.V. Sindhu were some of the guests who joined the celebrations.
Singer Sunita enthralled the audience with her melodious devotional songs at the minister’s house, which was duly decorated with flowers to reflect Telugu culture.
Kishan Reddy presented a portrait of Lord Venkatewhwara to the Prime Minister.
Narendra Modi posted pictures on his X account and shared how he enjoyed cultural programmes at his ministerial colleague’s residence.
“People across India celebrate Sankranti and Pongal with great fervour. It is a celebration of gratitude, abundance and renewal, deeply rooted in the agricultural traditions of our culture,” Modi said and conveyed his best wishes to everyone with happiness, good health and a prosperous harvest season ahead.
