Nalgonda police recover 50 lost mobile phones worth Rs.10 lakh
Hyderabad: The Nalgonda police recovered 50 lost and stolen phones worth Rs.10 lakh using Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR) and handed them over to the owners.
The police seized the phones that were lost or stolen in the last two months. Nalgonda Deputy Superintendent of Police, K Shivaram Reddy said, “If anybody’s mobile is lost or stolen, he or she should lodge a complaint on www.ceir.gov.in portal.”
If details of the mobile phone were shared on the CEIR website, then it would be easy for the police to trace the handsets, he said adding that efforts were on to sensitize the people on the need for registering on the portal immediately after losing their handsets.
The CEIR portal has been introduced by the Ministry of Telecom to facilitate phone users to share details of their handset after it was lost or stolen enabling the police trace it easily.
