Cabinet Okays Job Calendar, New Ration Cards, and Arogyasri Cards

Re-nominates Prof. Kodandaram and Amer Ali Khan as MLCs

Hyderabad: The state Cabinet on Thursday approved the 'job calendar' for issuing job recruitment notifications this year to fill vacancies in government departments. Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy will release the job calendar in the Legislative Assembly here on Friday.

The Cabinet also approved the nomination of Prof. M. Kodandaram and Amer Ali Khan as MLCs under the Governor's quota and referred it to the Governor for approval. Although the two names were approved by the cabinet in January, the High Court struck down their nominations.

The Cabinet approved their nomination again in March and sent it to then Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan for approval. But her resignation in March and the subsequent model code of conduct for Lok Sabha elections meant that it was to be kept pending.

With Governor Jishnu Dev Varma taking oath on Wednesday, the Cabinet re-nominated Prof. Kodandaram and Khan and referred it to the Governor for approval.

Issuing a job calendar every year on the lines of the UPSC was one of the major poll promises made by the Congress during the 2023 Assembly polls. This will help students know in advance when job notifications will be issued and keep track of the exam dates, completion of the recruitment process and the number of vacancies.

The Cabinet meeting, chaired by Revanth Reddy was held in the Legislative Assembly premises after the House was adjourned for the day on Thursday. The Cabinet discussed a wide range of issues and took important decisions.

Briefing the media later, I&PR minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy said that all the details pertaining to the job calendar will be placed in the Assembly.

The Cabinet has decided to issue Arogyasri health cards and white ration cards separately to all the eligible families. He said that health cards will have health profiles of all residents. A Cabinet sub-committee, comprising the revenue, health and civil supplies ministers, has been formed to finalise the procedures for this initiative.

The Cabinet approved allotment of 600 square yard house sites in Hyderabad to sportspersons Isha Singh, Nikhat Zareen and Mohammed Siraj. The last two will also be provided Group 1 jobs, he said.

The Cabinet expressed deep sorrow at the heavy toll in the devastating landslides in Wayanad. A condolence resolution extending sympathies to the bereaved families was passed. The Cabinet also pledged to provide necessary relief measures for those affected by the calamity.

The Cabinet decided to appoint Hari Ratan, son of the late Intelligence DG Rajiv Ratan, as municipal commissioner, following his father's recent death in the line of duty. Similarly, the son of late additional DG P. Murali, who also passed away while on duty, will be appointed as deputy tahsildar.

The Cabinet approved completion of the right and left canals under the Gouravelli project. It was decided to prepare revised estimates and allocate necessary funds for the acquisition of approximately 2,000 acres of land for the purpose.

In a move to revive the closed Nizam Sugar Factory, the Cabinet approved payment of outstanding arrears in a second installment. The feasibility of producing ethanol and electricity at the factory sites will be examined, with the responsibility entrusted to a cabinet sub-committee, led by industries minister D. Sridhar Babu.
