New Year celebrations: Step up vigil to prevent flow of drugs and NDPL
Hyderabad: The Prohibition and Excise department Director (Enforcement) VB Kamalasan Reddy here on Wednesday asked officials to keep a constant vigil on flow of non-duty paid liquor (NDPL) and drugs during New Year celebrations to be organized on December 31 night in the city and its suburbs.
At a meeting with senior officials from Hyderabad, Ranga Reddy district and State Task Force (STF), he said all the leaves of officials were cancelled till January second week as the department has decided to step up surveillance at convention centres, function halls, farm houses, pubs and clubs among other places where the New Year celebrations would be organized.
A decision was also taken to maintain vigil on the event managers and a special focus should be laid on Nanakramguda, Singareni Colony, LB Nagar, Golconda, Manikonda, Pupalguda and Ramakrishna Colony. He asked officials to take stern action against those who attempt to get non-duty paid liquor for the celebrations.
Reddy instructed officials to carry out inspections from Wednesday and continue them till next 15 days apart from searching the private travel tourist buses and bus and railway stations. If organizers comply with norms, then there should not be any problem from the department side, he added.
