KARIMNAGAR: The National Green Tribunal (NGT) of Southern Region , Chennai stated that no further works should be done until next orders pertaining to the Manair River Front (MRF) in Karimnagar since the officials of the irrigation department have not submitted the report to it.

The BRS government proposed the MRF master plan in four zones with viewing gallery, entry plaza, musical fountain, landscaping and illumination pathways along with construction of a bund in 1.15 acres. The Telangana State Tourism Development Corporation (TSTDC) has also allocated Rs 100 crore for the works.

The musical foundation with a basement of 0.07 acres is proposed for the river at 3.15 kilometers from the dam with a budget of Rs 60 crore. After the foundation footing work, the work was stopped since June 2023 due to non-finalising of designs and drawing duly proof-checked by the officials of irrigation department.

But with a case filed with the NGT by the president of Rythu Ikya Vedika M. Venkat Reddy against the execution of MRF works alleging that the works were carried out without the environmental clearance, the NGT judge Pushpa Satyanarayana imposed a stay on works until further orders which will be announced on December 2.
