Nizamabad: With Nizamabad municipal in-charge revenue officer Dasari Narender recently caught by ACB officials with Rs 6 crore worth of properties including Rs 2.93 crore cash, the Nizamabad municipal corporation (NMC) started taking damage control measures. Initially, health and revenue wing staff shifted to different locations. Nine sanitary inspectors and supervisors were shifted to different circles from their current positions.

Municipal commissioner M. Makarandu issued orders in this regard on Wednesday. He said the employees in all sections would be shifted soon and they would be trained about discharging their duties responsibly. “We are keeping watch on the employees and their performance will be reviewed,” he explained.

The commissioner warned that serious action would be taken against the municipal employees if they were involved in corrupt practices and tried to cause delays in services. Departmental inquiry would be conducted under Telangana Municipalities Act 2019, he said, adding that “Zero tolerance towards corruption is the new aim of the municipal corporation.”

Meanwhile, the commissioner made surprise visit in the late night at water works and found two employees drinking alcohol. He initiated disciplinary action against them.

In general transfers, a few employees from other municipalities have joined the NMC.
