No cause for concern, don't spread fake news on HMPV: Rajanarasimha
Hyderabad: Health minister Damodar Rajanarasimha on Monday said the government was keeping a constant vigil over any possible cases of Human metapneumovirus (HMPV) infections in the state, and said there was no cause of concern on this issue.
He warned that anyone spreading panic through false or fake reports on HMPV will be dealt with severely, and cautioned people against spreading fake news on the virus.
The minister said the public health monitoring and disease surveillance systems in the state have been alerted to be on the vigil for any HMPV cases, and even if in case any such infections are found, the symptoms are mild.
“The government is continuously reviewing the situation in other states, and the rest of the world, and Telangana is well equipped to tackle any situation on this front,” he said.
