Hyderabad: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) has failed to issue a look-out notice or a red corner notice against prime accused and former SIB chief T Prabhakar Rao, who is stated to be in Texas, even after seven months of investigation into phone-tapping case of the BRS government.

It was speculated that the investigative agency is taking a lenient view on Prabhakar Rao even though a court has rejected his plea seeking more time for his appearance, sources disclosed.

Speaking to Deccan Chronicle, Arun Kumar P.N., former government pleader, Telangana High Court, who was the first person to lodge a police complaint against former chief minister K. Chandrashekar Rao in the case, said, “Constitutional courts have always been against entertaining quash petitions. So it is the responsibility of SIT to expedite the process of production of the prime accused.”

During the hearing of a suo motu petition taken up by the High Court on the basis of a report in Deccan Chronicle, the Additional Advocate General had sought more time for filing a counter affidavit as so far there has been no progress. The High court directed the registry to place the matter on August 20, Arun said.
