Hyderabad: Revenue minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy on Wednesday ruled out any sort of conditions on beneficiaries for the construction of Indiramma houses. The only pre-requisite was that the built-up area should be at least 400 sq. ft. The beneficiaries are otherwise free to choose their own house designs. In its first phase, the `five lakh financial assistance will be given to beneficiaries owning plots.

Reddy was addressing a ‘Meet the minister" programme at Gandhi Bhavan, where he personally received applications from hundreds of people seeking government support. The event witnessed a significant turnout, with around 300 petitions submitted on the occasion. Most of them pertained to land issues, Indiramma housing, employment, and pensions. He reiterated the government’s commitment to housing and land reforms, unlike the BRS government, which did nothing on this front. The minister stated that the new Revenue Act is aimed at addressing all land-related issues across Telangana.

On the plight of farmers, Reddy outlined the Congress government’s steps towards their welfare, including a substantial crop loan waiver. He took exception to the protests organised by opposition parties on farming issues.

Referring to the Lagcherla village incident, Srinivas Reddy blamed the BRS for instigating the villagers. “We will soon expose all those who were involved in these attacks,” he said.
