Objections invited for renaming of Mulugu district
Following the proposals sent by the panchayat raj ministry for renaming the Mulugu district as Sammakka-Saralamma district, collector T.S. Diwakar issued a public notification inviting objections and suggestions from the people in the district on Tuesday.
The collector said that from July 3 onwards, special gram sabhas (village assemblies) will be held in all villages across the district to collect people’s opinions on the same under the supervision of district panchayat officer.
The Mulugu district was carved out of Jayashankar Bhupalpally district with nine mandals with around 3 lakhs of the population on February 16, 2019 by the BRS government.
Meanwhile, collector Diwakar stated that due to some technical issues, the formation of Mallampally as a separate mandal was being delayed as some villages in Shaimpet mandal objected to their merger into it.
