Officials Asked to Take Up Anti-Larvae Operations by 8 AM Every Day
Hyderabad:M. Dana Kishore, principal secretary of MA&UD on Thursday issued strict directives to officials asking them to implement effective measures to control the spread of vector-borne diseases, including dengue, malaria, and chikungunya.
In a recent meeting, Kishore stressed the importance of everyday anti-larvae operations, which he said should begin at 8 am. He emphasised the need for a thorough inspection of all positive dengue cases and directed zonal commissioners to conduct regular reviews with officers on vector-borne diseases. He also mandated the inspection of all schools, colleges, and hostels to raise awareness about dengue prevention.
Kishore advised the implementation of fogging operations from 6 pm to 9 pm every day, particularly in slum areas from where most positive cases have been reported. Senior and assistant entomologists were directed to recheck five to six areas daily to ensure comprehensive coverage.
The GHMC, he said, had taken significant steps towards dengue prevention, particularly during the monsoon season. So far, the GHMC has conducted anti-larvae operations across 27,608 locations, including function halls, open spaces, cellars and construction sites.
In areas where cases have been recorded, pinpointed fogging operations have been carried out. Additionally, the GHMC has initiated door-to-door 'dry day' IEC (Information, Education, and Communication) programmes every Friday across 4,846 colonies.
