Hyderabad: Non-teaching staff unions at Osmania University (OU) staged a protest outside the university's administrative building, demanding the resolution of their long-standing grievances including providing health cards and implementing a pension scheme in line with those provided for state government employees.

The protesters called for the immediate appointment of regular Vice-Chancellors across all universities in Telangana. They also pressed for the implementation of the pending Dearness Allowance (DA) installments and the Pay Revision Commission (PRC).

The demonstration followed a call from the All India Universities Employees Confederation (AIUEC) and the Telangana Universities Non-Teaching Employees Association.

Speaking at the event, B Gnaneshwar, president of the OU NGOs Staff Association, criticised former chief minister K. Chandrashekar Rao for neglecting university issues and failing to visit OU even once in the past decade.
