Packaged Drinking Water Now a High-Risk Food Category

Hyderabad: The Food Safety and Security Authority of India (FSSAI) has released a notification mentioning that all packaged drinking and mineral water would fall in the category of 'high-risk food' under its 'risk-based inspection scheduling policy.
Manufacturers or those processing high risk food category material will have to be mandatorily inspected before a license or registration is granted to them. Additionally, Centrally licensed manufacturers under the high risk
food category are required to get their business audited every year by an FSSAI-recognised, third party agency that conducts food safety audits.
