Hyderabad: South zone DCP Sneha Mehra said the police were working to ensure that the installation and immersion of Ganesh idols were carried out as per plan and urged members of the Bhagyanagar Ganesh Utsav Committee and pandal organisers to cooperate with them. She was speaking at a coordination meeting ahead of the festival, which will begin on September 7, here on Friday. The meeting focused on discussing security measures for the upcoming Ganesh Chaturthi festival and addressing challenges faced by the organisers.

The DCP informed that volunteers must be present at the Ganesh mandapams throughout the day. At least three volunteers should be present during the night. She also suggested that the organisers make arrangements for queues in the mandaps, keeping in view the visits of devotees. The police are making tight security arrangements to ensure that there are no disruptions during the Ganesh processions, she informed.

DCP Mehra advised that CCTV cameras shall be installed in the mandaps until the end of the festival and flexis should display the details of pandal organisers and the committee members along with their phone numbers. She also suggested taking precautions to prevent fires in the pandals and urged the organisers to maintain peace and order during the festival.
