Hyderabad: Pandemonium prevailed in the State Assembly here on Friday with the members of the ruling and opposition parties hurling papers against each other during the discussion on Bhubharathi Bill introduced by the Congress government replacing Dharani portal, which was touted as one-stop destination for the agricultural land transaction by the previous BRS government.

Minutes after the commencement of the session, Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy was speaking in the Assembly about the importance of the Bill and how the ruling party took advantage of the Dharani portal.

But the BRS MLAs insisted on taking up a discussion on the FIR issued by the party working president KT Rama Rao (KTR) by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Thursday. BRS MLA T Harish Rao gave an adjournment motion requesting for a discussion on KTR’s issue.

The Speaker Gaddam Prasad requested the opposition members not to disrupt the house during a debate on the crucial Bhubharathi Bill benefiting the people across the State.

The Speaker also informed them that he would look into KTR's issue after discussing it with them in his chambers. Ignoring the Speaker’s plea, the BRS MLA continued to raise slogans demanding that the former take up a decision. A few MLAs tried to proceed towards the podium but the marshals prevented them resulting in utter chaos in the House.

When the BRS MLAs threw papers on the podium, the ruling party members also got infuriated and hurled papers on the BRS members’ benches. As chaos continued in the house, the Speaker adjourned the House for 15 minutes.

Srinivas Reddy described the behavior of the BRS MLAs pathetic and added that the BRS MLAs were not allowing the House to discuss the crucial bill for the sake of one MLA. He also condemned the behavior of the BRS MLAs towards the Speaker, who is a Dalit.
