Stranded in Iraq, Jagtial man pleads for rescue

Ajay, a resident of Sarangapur, paid Rs 2.70 lakhs to an agent 14 months ago to secure work in Iraq.
Karimnagar: Pallapu Ajay, 28, from Sarangapur mandal of Jagtial district, said he had been stranded in Iraq without a job for 14 months, and urged the state government to rescue him. He narrated his woes in a video he posted to his parents P. Gangaiah and Radha.

Ajay paid Rs 2.7 lakh to an agent who promised him good job in the Gulf countries. After going to Iraq, the agent handed over Ajay to an agency which took his passport and locked him in a room.

Five months back when the local agent visited Jagtial, Ajay’s parents questioned him about their son being cheated. The agent assured them that Ajay would be given another job, and returned Rs 1 lakh to his parents.

Ajay in the video said that even after paying money to the agency in Iraq were not allotting him any job and giving meals to him only once a day. Last month, Ajay’s parents sent another Rs 66,000 to arrange a passport for him. But the agency in Iraq who took the money did not hand over his passport..

Meanwhile, Ajay’s parents urged the state government to rescue their son from Iraq.
