PCCF condemns rumours forest officials released tigers in forest
KOMARAM BHEEM ASIFABAD: Principal chief conservator of forests R.M. Dobriyal on Sunday condemned the rumours that forest officials had released a few tigers in the forests to create panic among villagers and force them to evacuate from the Kagaznagar forest division. He said the foresters were working on a long-term action plan for tiger conservation.
Dobriyal was responding to a question and said releasing tigers in a particular area is not possible and even shifting them from one place to another needs permission from the National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA).
He said that the officials had come to know about rumours being spread on social media and said it would cause damage to the tiger conservation effort. He said the department would come out with short- and long-term action plans to protect tigers and their conservation in erstwhile Adilabad district.
“Soon, the forest department will organise a meeting on the issue of tiger conservation in Hyderabad,” he said and added that they would discuss migration of tigers and elephants to Telangana from Maharashtra. He said efforts were on to develop a corridor for the big cats between the Tadoba Andhari and Kawal tiger reserves.
