Hyderabad: The Modern Government Maternity Hospital at Petlaburj inaugurated its new clinic for non-communicable diseases on Tuesday. In an attempt to provide all women-centric facilities under one roof, the heritage hospital has brought services like blood tests, cancer screening, infertility tests and anaemia testing as well. The hospital has a capacity for 490 maternity patients as well as 390 added beds.

"Any woman who comes to our hospital, gets A to Z services under one umbrella," said Dr Rajini Reddy, superintendent. "Cancer screening includes mammography, colposcopy, cryotherapy and pap smear. Besides, we have specialty clinics like infertility clinic, menopause clinic, PCOD clinic and adolescent clinic, all associated with Arogya Mahila Scheme.”

She said that under the national health schemes like 'Anaemia Mukt Bharat', the hospital was also working to detect anaemia in young girls and giving FCM injections for treating iron deficiency. Surgeries were performed free under Aarogyasri.

The superintendent informed that the hospital facilitated 1,290 deliveries in October. "Caesarean section rate was very less. Primary caesarean section was around 20 per cent. Our major cases last month were 631 and minor cases were 416. We also had the highest number of cases treated under Arogyasri last month, around 648 cases," Dr Rajini Reddy said.
