Hyderabad: Dr Gummadi Anuradha, principal of PG College of Law in Basheerbagh, is facing severe allegations of harassment, financial misconduct, and abuse of power from students and faculty.
A second-year student, Shashidhar, accused Anuradha of fabricating a malpractice case against him in November 2022 after he refused to arrange a ₹50 lakh loan she allegedly demanded to fund a TV channel aimed at criticising government welfare schemes. Shashidhar presented WhatsApp transcripts and other evidence to support his claims, also alleging that Anuradha tried to seize his phone to destroy the proof.
During a freshers’ party, Anuradha reportedly stopped the event, accusing first-year students of filing RTI queries into her financial dealings and questioning her teaching commitments. Witnesses heard her declare, “If I have to teach, they should stop filing RTIs against me.”
In April 2023, an FIR was filed by a part-time lecturer and advocate who alleged that Anuradha coerced him into lending ₹6 lakh under false pretenses, promising repayment within two months. The complaint details financial transactions and claims that Anuradha used her authority to intimidate him when he sought repayment.
Student organisations have approached the Osmania University Registrar and the State Human Rights Commission with detailed complaints and evidence. Anuradha was earlier removed from her position in February 2023 due to similar allegations but reinstated within a year, reportedly through political influence.
Now, students and faculty are demanding her immediate dismissal, citing her “erratic and authoritarian” behaviour as harmful to the institution’s reputation.
