WARANGAL: The police on Thursday nabbed a person for illegally transporting a leopard skin and seized it along with a mobile phone and a two wheeler from his possession here at Chandrupatla village in Wazedu mandal of Mulugu district.

Circle inspector B. Kumar said the accused, Jagi Mahendar, 40, was a native of Uluru village of Bhupalpatnam mandal of Bijapur district in Chhattisgarh.

On a tip-off that some persons are illegally transporting the skin of a leopard, forest officer B. Chandramouli along with a team conducted a check at Chandrupatla village crossroad.

At around 2 pm, a person was spotted coming on a motor bike with a brown colour bag from Chhattisgarh. By seeing the police personnel he tried to escape when police chased and nabbed him.

After searching his bag, they found the leopard skin. The police registered a case and started an investigation.
