Hyderabad: Two police teams have been unable to pick up any clues on how a newborn came to be abandoned on the terrace of a house in Chaderghat. The newborn, just hours old, was still covered in birth fluids, and was found bitten by a rat on the ear.

The Child Welfare Committee, which is overseeing the infant’s care, stated that the boy is in a stable condition.

Police sources said that one CCTV camera near the spot covered the rear of the house and did not capture anything useful.

Sources said that the police spotted suspicious movements hours before the incident, but they could not find any concrete leads.

The police teams are going through CCTV footage from areas in and around house on the terrace of which the baby was found. They are focusing on the time between midnight and 7 am on the day the infant was found abandoned.

Police also searched the birth registers of anganwadis and government hospitals. They are looking into the recent records of women who have registered for pregnancy-related services.
