Hyderabad: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Friday said the State Government initiated measures to make Hyderabad a pollution-free city. “Humans are landing on the Moon but not aware of how to exist on the Earth. Polluting vehicles are being shifted beyond the Outer Ring Road (ORR),” he said after inaugurating the CII national council meeting here.

As many as 67 lakh women registered as the members of Self-Help Groups (SHGs) in Telangana. The SHGs are setting up canteens in government offices. Women groups were contemplating establishing 1000 MW Solar Power generation plants.

Stating that the State government was taking necessary steps for women empowerment, Revanth Reddy said that separate stalls were opened on a three and a half acre land next to Hi-Tec City for SHGs to sell their products.

The State government has already increased the diet charges by 40 per cent and cosmetic charges by 200 per cent for students studying in government welfare hostels. Its main objective was to promote one crore women as “crorepatis” apart from paying special attention to the empowerment of rural women.

He said special focus was laid on promoting the automobile sector in Telangana and accordingly prepared plans to develop a road and rail line connectivity to Machilipatnam Port. Revanth Reddy said a request was made to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to sanction a regional ring railway line. “We will set up clusters on the lines of China and construct radial roads between the Outer Ring Road (ORR) and the Regional Ring Road (RRR).

Around 11 lakh engineering students pass out every year from Telangana. However, most students were under-skilled. The ITIs were upgraded as ATCs by investing Rs.2,400 crore in collaboration with Tata Group.

The State government set up a special skill university for skill development and on the lines of ISB, it constituted a Board with industrialist and Mahindra Group Chairman Anand Mahindra as the Chairman of the Skill University.

Appealing to the CII representatives to support the university corpus fund, he said the government was also establishing a Sports University and a Sports Hub and envisaged plans for the next 50 years. Doors were opened for CII representatives to meet anytime and the government was ready to cooperate in all aspects, he assured.
