HYDERABAD: Several colonies in Hayathnagar continue to suffer in the absence of proper roads. Although some parts have seen major development, many others remain undeveloped, causing severe inconvenience to residents and motorists.

“The delay is primarily due to the low budget,” said a GHMC assistant engineer. He said that the trunk lines, drainage systems and the number of houses constructed are important in determining the priority for road development.

If a colony or a locality meets these parameters, the locals can approach their local MLA, corporator or the zonal commissioner seeking roads, he said.

While LB Nagar, Vanasthalipuram and Autonagar under the Mansoorabad division have well-developed road networks, several areas in Hayathnagar, including Green City, Gayatrinagar, KVN Reddynagar, Sriram Colony, Adarsh Colony, Laxmi Bhavaninagar and Sri Krishna Hills Colony, still lack basic road connectivity.

Nandi Hills Colony and Akashnagar Colony, despite having drainage systems in place for the past three years, are yet to see construction of roads.

"The absence of proper roads, especially during the rainy season, is a major inconvenience. Despite myriad assurances of road sanctions, we are in the dark about their implementation" said Sridevi from Nandi Hills Colony.

“There is a road link to the Veerannagutta temple but the internal roads within the colony remain neglected,” said a resident of Akashnagar. Shiva Ganga Colony residents, who have had drainage facilities for two years, face similar problems.

"The drainage work was completed five months ago, and GHMC officials assured us that roads would be laid within two months. It remains a shallow promise," said Bhaskar, president of Green City Colony.

The Mansoorabad division corporator's office stated that the roads in some parts of Hayathnagar haven't been built yet because of the main underground pipes which are still being installed.
