Hyderabad: The Telangana state government is marking a significant move toward renewable energy. It has officially initiated steps to promote Kondareddypally village as a model for 100% solar-powered habitation, in the region. Following a directive from Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, a team of officials began conducting a house-to-house survey in the village on Tuesday.

Kongareddypalli currently has a total of 1,451 electricity consumers, including 499 domestic, 66 commercial, and 867 agricultural connections. The house-to-house survey is a key part of this pilot project as it will help assess the energy needs and usage patterns, which will help the team prepare a Detailed Project Report (DPR). This report will help the government determine the solar power capacity required to meet the village’s energy demands.

Chairman and managing director of the Southern Telangana Power Distribution Company, Musharraf Farooqui, along with Nagar Kurnool district collector B. Santhosh, REDCO VC & MD Anila, company director (commercial) K. Ramulu, and other department heads, visited the village to oversee the process and engage with the community.

They interacted and discussed the potential benefits of the project with the villagers, in particular with the farmers and local representatives. They emphasised the government’s commitment towards creating a sustainable energy model for the village.

Once the survey is complete, the government will finalise the plan for the installation of solar panel.
