Hyderabad: Protocol adviser Harkara Venugopal and protocol director Arvind Singh on Friday visited former chief minister K. Chandrashekar Rao's residence at Nandinagar and personally handed over an invitation to attend the Telangana Formation Day celebrations to be held on June 2 at Parade Ground and Tank Bund.

On the direction of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, Venugopal and Arvind Singh met the BRS chief and handed over the Chief Minister's letter along with the invitation. Speaking to reporters outside the BRS chief’s residence, Venugopal said Rao responded positively to the invitation.

"I have handed over Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy's letter along with an invitation card to former chief minister K Chandrashehar Rao at his residence and requested him to attend the celebrations," Venugopal said, adding that he had also explained to the BRS chief the details of programmes to be held on June 2 at Parade Ground and Tank Bund.

He said the government will also be felicitating former Congress president Sonia Gandhi who cleared the decks for the formation of Telangana state. “Just like how people go to their places of worship, every person from Telangana must celebrate the Formation Day by participating in programmes organised by the government," Venugopal said.
