Based on ground intelligence, the police summoned 16 people, who have been associated with drugs and visiting pubs regularly in Madhapur and Gachibowli. They were tested with the 12 panel Abbott urine testing kit. Of the 16 people, two people including the DJ tested positive for cocaine and ganja, the police said.
The police took them into custody after registering a case against them in Madhapur police station under Section 27 of NDPS Act-1985. The police said a woman caught a few months ago with intermediate quantity cocaine tested negative.
The police asked the people to stay away from drug suppliers who are under surveillance. The police officials said they were striving hard to fight the drug menace in the top educational institutes and schools.
The Anti-Drug Committees (ADCs) in schools and colleges should give information to local police or Telangana State Anti-Narcotics Bureau (TGANB) in case of suspicion. The institutes should employ retired police officers in case they are not able to collect information.
“The institutes should not get into self-denial, but should keep the future of students in their mind. We will not reveal their identities and the names of the students as well,” police officials said.
The staff in the educational institutes must check bags and lockers for e-cigarettes, vapes, small liquor bottles, ganja chocolates, weed, cigarettes etc, if any. Sometimes the senior students use their juniors to smuggle drugs and cigarettes by bullying. “We appeal to the public to report any information about drugs to TGANB control room: 87126 71111,” they added.
