Hyderabad: A Sub-Inspector (SI) T Ajay of Raikal police station in Jagtial district is in the dragnet of Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) in connection with a bribe case. Ajay is now absconding, according to ACB.

On Friday night, the ACB caught Pulluri Raju of Itikyala Village in Raikal Mandal in Jagtial district, red handed, when he allegedly accepted bribe of Rs.10,000 from a complainant Gaddam Rajender Reddy of Itikyala Village following instructions of SI Ajay

Ajay allegedly demanded the bribe amount for doing an official favor to release the complainant and his tractor driver on station bail by issuing notices under Section 41(A) CrPc in a sand theft case registered under Section 379 of IPC and Section 21 (1) Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Act.

The ACB officials recovered the tainted bribe amount of Rs.10,000 from the possession of Raju. The fingers of both hands of Raju yielded positive in a chemical test. The SI already accepted an amount of Rs. 15, 000 as bribe from the complainant and again demanded an additional bribe amount of Rs. 10,000 and accepted the same through Raju.

Thus, Ajay colluding with Raju performed duty improperly and dishonestly to obtain undue advantage, the ACB officials said. They produced Raju before the special court for ACB cases in Karimnagar after which the court remanded him to judicial custody.
