Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy announced that the state government was prepared to spend Rs 10,000 crore to assist displaced families living along the Musi river. The Chief Minister reassured those residing in the full tank level (FTL) and buffer zone of the Musi that the government would provide all necessary support and alternatives.

Reddy made it clear that the state government would take full responsibility for the well-being of families displaced due to the ongoing Musi riverfront development project, offering to construct new housing for the displaced at Malakpet race course and Amberpet police academy if required.
Revanth Reddy was speaking at 95th birth anniversary of Congress stalwart and former CWC member G. Venkataswamy at Ravindra Bharathi here on Saturday,

The Chief Minister urged the public not to be swayed by the "provocative statements" being made by Opposition leaders regarding the Musi project.

According to him, these leaders are raking up the issue to protect their personal interests. "Opposition leaders are raising the displaced issue only to safeguard their farmhouses from demolition, while the government is working for the greater good of the people," he said.

He accused opposition leaders of behaving like zamindars, while pretending to be concerned about the plight of the poor.
He took a dig at BJP Malkajgiri MP Etala Rajendar who lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his work on the Sabarmati riverfront but was opposing the Musi project. The Chief Minister sought constructive suggestions from the Opposition instead of creating obstructions. Revanth Reddy called for unity in improving the lives of the poor, especially those displaced by the development.

"The government’s agenda is clear—doing good for the people. The poor living along Musi should not worry," he said.
Referring to BRS protests on crop loan waiver, he pointed out that the previous BRS government had waived only Rs 11,000 crore in crop loans over five years, while the Congress-led government has waived Rs 18,000 crore in crop loans in one month. He appealed to farmers to stop taking their grievances to the streets and instead approach their respective district collectors for redressal.
Praying tributes to Venkataswamy, fondly known as 'Kaka,' Reddy spoke of his contributions to the people of Telangana, particularly the poor. He praised Venkataswamy for his efforts in securing housing for 80,000 families and protecting Singareni workers. He also recalled Kaka's role in convincing Sonia Gandhi to support the formation of Telangana.
The Chief Minister expressed disappointment that the previous governments had neglected to officially celebrate Kaka’s birth anniversary, despite his immense contributions to the state. He assured that, going forward, the state government would officially honour Venkataswamy's legacy each year and include his family in government decisions in this regard
