Hyderabad: The BRS on Saturday sought to capitalise on the election results from Maharashtra and Jharkhand, with its working president K.T. Rama Rao declaring that the outcome in the two states had once again shown the importance of regional parties.

Rama Rao said the rejection of the Congress in Maharashtra and that of the BJP in Jharkhand by voters had yet again demonstrated that it was only the regional parties that work for the people in their states. “The BJP and Congress constantly conspire against regional parties, and as part of their campaign, engage in shameless criticism of work by regional parties in their respective states. Despite all such efforts, BJP and Congress have failed in their plans,” he said.

“It is only where regional parties are weak do the BJP, or Congress win,” he said.

Senior BRS leader T. Harish Rao said people in Maharashtra refused to believe Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s “lies” during the campaign on how the Congress had implemented its Six Guarantees. “It has become clear that Telugu speaking people in Mumbai, Solapur, Pune, Nanded and other areas in Maharashtra saw through the lies,” he said.

Harish Rao also said that people in Jharkhand taught a lesson to the BJP that its revenge politics will be rejected, and congratulated JMM’s Hemant Soren for victory.
