Revanth Completes Crop Loan Waiver Scheme Within a Month, Creates Record on I-Day

WYRA: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Friday completed the crop loan waiver scheme by releasing Rs 5,644.24 crore in the third phase at a massive farmers' rally in Wyra, Khammam district, on the occasion of the 78th Independence Day. The amount was credited directly into the bank accounts of 6,40,823 farmers, who had loans in the range of Rs 1.5 lakh to Rs 2 lakh.

With this, the Revanth Reddy government has deposited ₹17,034 crore directly into the bank accounts of 22,37,848 farmers within 27 days, from July 18 to August 15, to clear their crop loans of up to Rs 2 lakh.

"Rahul Gandhi assured the farmers of the loan waiver, and our government has delivered on that commitment," Reddy said.

He also accused the BRS leaders of lying to the public and failing to deliver on their promises.

After releasing the final instalment at the public meeting, Taking a dig at BRS leader T. Harish Rao, Revanth Reddy reminded the people of BRS leader T. Harish Rao's earlier challenge of resigning as MLA if the loan waiver was completed by August 15. "Now that we've fulfilled our promise, he should either step down or apologise to the farmers," Reddy said.

While campaigning during the Lok Sabha elections, Reddy had promised to waive crop loans of farmers up to `2 lakh each in one go by August 15.

The Chief Minister highlighted the Congress government's recent achievements. He dwelt upon his government's commitment to farmers, ongoing development projects, and the mission to fulfill its promises.

Revanth Reddy said that the government was committed to completing the Sita Rama lift irrigation project by August 2026. Once completed, this will provide irrigation facilities to seven lakh acres in Khammam district. He said the Congress government was planning to bring water from Munneru river and construct a 15 tmc ft reservoir for Dornakal constituency.

The state government was focusing on employment generation, he said, and added that 30,000 appointments were ensured within three months of taking office. Plans are to create 65,000 more jobs this year, he said.

Revanth Reddy criticised BRS leaders, including K.T. Rama Rao and Harish Rao for misleading the public. He also took a jab at the BJP, claiming that it had failed to deliver anything significant to Telangana despite winning eight Lok Sabha seats.

"Together, we will dismantle BRS and continue to build a prosperous Telangana," Revanth Reddy vowed.
