Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy met Governor C.P. Radhakrishnan at Raj Bhavan on Monday. The two-hour-long meeting between the CM and the Governor assumed significance against the backdrop of the impending cabinet expansion in the first or second week of this month.

Official sources said the Chief Minister discussed with the Governor the schedule for convening the monsoon session of the Legislative Assembly and Council, the Bills and resolutions that the state government wants to introduce in both Houses. The Congress government is planning to introduce a Bill to amend the RoR (Record of Rights) Act, 2020, to resolve the issues concerning the Dharani portal.

The Chief Minister reportedly sought the governor's clearance for pending two MLC nominations under the Governor's quota. The state Cabinet nominated Prof Kodandaram and "Siasat" editor Amer Ali Khan as MLCs under the Governor's quota in January this year. Previous governor Tamilisai Soundararajan gave her god on January 27. However, the High Court stalled their nominations in February after BRS leaders Dasoju Satyanarayana and Kurra Satyanarayan filed a petition challenging the Governor's approval.

Later, the state Cabinet renominated Prof Kodandaram and Amer Ali Khan as MLCs and sent it to the Governor’s approval in March. But due to the resignation of Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan in March and due to election code on account of Lok Sabha polls from March 16 to June 6, the issue is pending.
