Revanth star campaigner for Maha, Bhatti for Jharkhand
Bhatti is the only leader from Telangana to be included on the star campaigners list for Jharkhand
HYDERABAD: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka and several ministers will participate in election campaigning for the Maharashtra and Jharkhand Assembly elections.
Party sources said that Reddy will address rallies in Maharashtra to support the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA), comprising Congress, NCP-Sharad Pawar faction and Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) faction. Bhatti will campaign in Jharkhand for I.N.D.I.A. bloc candidates, including those from the Congress, JMM, RJD and Left parties.
Their campaign tour schedules are expected to be finalised later this week. They are likely to participate in election rallies between November 8 and 18. TPCC president B. Mahesh Kumar Goud will also campaign in Maharashtra next week, sources said.
The Congress high command has released a list of ‘star campaigners’ for the Assembly polls in Maharashtra and Jharkhand. For Maharashtra, Revanth Reddy is the sole representative from Telangana from among 40 star campaigners, who have been lined up.
Similarly, Bhatti is the only leader from Telangana to be included on the star campaigners list for Jharkhand.
Last month, the Congress leadership appointed ministers N. Uttam Kumar Reddy and Dansari Anasuya (Seethakka) as senior AICC observers for Maharashtra, while Bhatti will be so for Jharkhand. Uttam Kumar Reddy and Dr Seethakka have already made three visits to Maharashtra to strategise with local party leaders, focusing on micro-level booth management to increase voter turnout in favour of the Congress and its alliance partners.
In addition, Lok Sabha members Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy and Mallu Ravi have been actively campaigning in the Yavatmal and Chandrapur districts of Maharashtra since September.
Historically, Telangana and Maharashtra share close geographical, social, and political ties. The undivided Adilabad and Nizamabad districts of Telangana border Maharashtra, and many residents from these districts have deep social and family connections with regions like Nanded, Yavatmal, Gadchiroli, Chandrapur, and Sholapur.
A significant number of people from Adilabad and Nizamabad have also settled in these parts of Maharashtra.
The Congress party plans to capitalise on this aspect by mobilising leaders and cadre from Telangana, especially from Adilabad and Nizamabad districts, to bolster support for the MVA.
