Revanth to unveil Telangana Talli statue on Dec 9

Hyderabad:The Telangana Talli statue, when completed, will fully mirror the richness of rural Telangana. Sculptors at Pedda Amberpet, on the city’s outskirts, are giving final touches to the statue which will be unveiled by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy at the Secretariat on December 9.

Poojari Srinivas Goud, a resident of Gandicheruvu village, said that the sculptors at the workshop, located along the service road of Outer Ring Road, are working overtime to finish work on the statue on time. The area has been cordoned off to keep the statue out of people’s eyes until it finds its place at the Secretariat.

The decision to install a new Telangana Talli statue was taken by the Congress government after it came to power at a Cabinet meeting on February 4. The Chief Minister has since taken a keen interest in the work and interacted with the sculptors to ensure the statute reflects the state’s rich culture.

The unique style of Telangana’s rural women in traditional attire, wont to work in hostile conditions in an agrarian society and their bold looks would come alive in the statue. The sculpture would also contain certain features from Bathukamma—a signature festival of the state

The pedestal for installing the statue is already ready in front of the Secretariat building. Officials have relayed the gardens by making slight modifications in front of the Secretariat to give a wider prominence to the statue.

It would have two big fountains with laser lights on the two sides of the statue. The government is likely to allow people to visit the icon through new gates in place of Bahubali gates located in front of the Secretariat.
