Rythu Bharosa: Consultation meeting held with farmers in Karimnagar

Karimnagar: The Congress government has taken a historic step by sanctioning Rs 2 lakh loan waiver to around 31 lakh farmers, said irrigation minister Uttam Kumar Reddy at a Rythu Bharosa consultation meeting in Karimnagar on Friday.

Ministers Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, Tummala Nageswara Rao, D. Sridhar Babu, Ponnam Prabhakar and MLC T.Jeevan Reddy and district collectors of Karimnagar, Peddapalli, Jagtial and Rajanna Sircilla participated in the meeting.

Uttam Kumar Reddy said the state government had deposited Rs 7,000 crores in the bank accounts of around 11 lakh farmers on July 18, keeping the promise of AICC leaders Sonia and Rahul Gandhi.

The previous BRS government waived Rs 25,000 crore of farm loans in 10 years, the Congress government was waiving Rs 31,000 crore within seven months.

After taking the opinion from farmers, the Rythu Bharosa scheme will be implemented transparently. Special focus will be given on comprehensive development of the erstwhile Karimnagar district, he said.

Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy appealed to farmers not to believe the publicity which the opposition parties are doing pertaining to Rythu Bharosa.

Agriculture minister Tummala Nageswara Rao said even though the state government is facing a financial crisis, it is taking all kinds of measures for the development of the farm sector.
