ROPE Method Ideal to Clear Footpaths and Streamline City Traffic: CP

Hyderabad: Stating that the police staff face tremendous pressure while doing this activity of clearing footpaths to make the way for commuters, the Hyderabad Police Commissioner C V Anand on Friday directed the police officials to take up the Removal of Obstructive Parking and Encroachments (ROPE) operation in Hyderabad to prevent traffic snarls.

In his tweet, the Police Commissioner said that he asked the traffic police to take up operation ROPE seriously and not bring in aspects of poverty, livelihood in areas where the cycle tracks and the footpaths are being occupied relentlessly by people, mainly from other states, to sell goods and also to live.

"It’s a mafia type of activity. This adversely affects the flow of traffic. It is a continuous process to be done daily with the cranes. Our officers face tremendous pressure while doing this activity. So please support them. Wherever the encroachments have been there for years, white lines will be drawn to indicate that no one can cross that limit," CV Anand said in his tweet.

Following Hyderabad Police Commissioner's tweet on social media, the netizen responded positively and poured in a number of complaints. Residents also brought several issues from Cyberabad to clear traffic snarls by posting and replying to the Police Commissioner's post.

The Hyderabad Police responded to the Chilkalguda Traffic police post on social media in implementing ROPE in clearing footpaths. CV Anand appreciated the Chilkalguda police for implementing ROPE.

One Farid Ahmed also replied to the Police Commissioner's post pouring in a complaint stating that the footpath at the Lotus Pond is fully encroached by tea and snacks stalls. The stalls were removed several times but they came back and are a huge traffic slowdown. The Police Commissioner the complainant to tag the Hyderabad traffic police to immediate solution.
