Rs 2 Cr Admission Scam at Chaitanya University; Senior Officials Arrested

Hyderabad: The Cyberabad economic offences wing (EOW) police arrested a senior official and two associates for allegedly siphoning off up to Rs.2 crore by manipulating the admission process at the Chaitanya Deemed to be University in Himayatnagar of Rangareddy district.

The accused were identified as dean Sanikommu Suma of Warangal district, who was incharge of admissions at the university, and her associates Bhuthapati Dinaker and Burra Srikanth, of Hanamkonda.

The complaint was lodged by the institution founder Dr Chintalapani Venkata Purshottam Reddy.

After the admissions were finalised, the trio issued forged/fabricated payment vouchers the names of the agents and diverted the funds for personal gain. The value of the scam was put at between `1 crore and 2 crore.
