Bhongir: Rs 2.23 Lakh Stolen from Car Parked on NH-65
Yadadri-Bhongir: An unidentified person stole Rs 2.23 lakh from a car parked by the roadside near Dandumalkapuram in Choutuppal mandal early Monday morning.
According to the police, K. Upender, who was driving to Khammam from Hyderabad, stopped his car near a dhaba at Dandumalkapuram at 1 am and went to sleep. He was carrying Rs 2.23 lakh in cash with him.
A masked person arrived on a Scooty and managed to open the front door of the car, then escaped with the money. Upender said that he was carrying the money to Khammam from Hyderabad at the request of his relatives, intending to hand over the amount to their family members in their native place. After stopping the vehicle at Dandumalkapuram, he went to sleep in the car. When he woke up at 3.30 am, he found the money had been stolen.
Choutuppal sub-inspector K. Ashok Reddy said, “The incident was recorded on a CCTV camera installed near the place. We are examining the footage. Efforts are on to identify the person involved in the theft. Two police teams have been formed to catch the thief.”
This is the second incident in June of money being stolen from a car parked by the side of National Highway 65 (NH-65). In the first incident, two robbers decamped with 40 grams of ornaments from a car parked on NH-65 at Peddakaparthy in Chityal mandal on the night of June 9. Nalgonda police have yet to achieve a breakthrough in that case.
