Rs 50,000 Crore Procurement Dues Will Be Cleared: Tummala
Nalgonda: Agriculture minister Tummala Nageswara Rao on Friday highlighted the significant improvements in people’s lives during the one-year tenure of the Congress government in Telangana.
Speaking at a meeting of the District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee chaired by Nalgonda MP Kunduru Raghuveer Reddy, Nageswara Rao stated that the Congress government has successfully implemented measures that have brought positive changes across the state.
He emphasised that all departments are working in coordination to implement welfare schemes effectively. The minister assured that the state government would clear the pending Rs 50,000 crore dues left unpaid by the previous BRS government for paddy procurement from farmers.
Highlighting Telangana’s leading position in paddy production, Nageswara Rao noted that farmers have cultivated fine varieties of paddy across 40 lakh acres this season, attributing the increased cultivation area to the Rs 500 bonus announced by the state government. He also urged officials to create awareness among farmers about the benefits of palm oil farming, which yields higher profits.
Minister for roads and buildings Komatireddy Venkat Reddy stated that the government is prioritising rural development and focusing on resolving issues in villages. He assured that road connectivity to every village in the district would be ensured. He also urged elected representatives to report rural issues to the state government for timely solutions.
Nalgonda MP Raghuveer Reddy stressed the importance of proper utilisation of Centrally sponsored schemes for rural development. Pointing out that the Central government is implementing 92 welfare schemes, he expressed concern that the number of beneficiaries in the district remains low. He called on officials and elected representatives to raise awareness among the public about these schemes.
Bhongir MP Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy emphasised the need for elected representatives to work collaboratively for the state’s development and the welfare of its people. He urged them to monitor the implementation of Central government programmes in their respective constituencies.
The meeting was attended by MLAs Kunduru Jayaveer Reddy, Bathula Laxma Reddy, Mandula Samuel, and Vemula Veeresham, along with District Collector Ila Tripathi and Superintendent of Police Sharath Chandra Pawar.
