Hyderabad: The Cabinet sub-committee on Rythu Bharosa, led by Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, on Friday discussed modalities to be adopted to identify tenant farmers who are being brought into the scheme for the first time.

The committee asked revenue and agriculture officials to make appropriate recommendations on how to identify tenant farmers. The Rythu Bandhu, which is to be phased out, covered only landowners.
The undivided AP governments used to issue identity cards for tenant farmers but the previous BRS government abolished the system. It also removed the tenant farmers column from the pattadar passbooks.
The government has asked the sub-committee to submit its report on Rythu Bharosa by July 15. The report will be tabled in the Assembly session. After receiving feedback, the government will finalise the guidelines for the scheme.
