Sankranti Brahmotsavam from January 11 at Srisailam
Kurnool: The Sankranti Brahmotsavam at the Sri Bhramaramba Mallikarjuna Swamy Temple in Srisailam will be held from January 11 to 17, marking the auspicious occasion of Makara Sankranti.
The seven-day celebrations are held twice annually -- the Sankranti Brahmotsavam coinciding with Makara Sankranti and the Shivaratri Brahmotsavam taking place during Maha Shivaratri.
The Brahmotsavam will commence at 8.45am on January 11 with the Yagasala Pravesham, followed by Ganapati Puja, Swasti Punyahavachanam and special prayers to Chandishwara, the Shiva Parivar God overseeing the event.
The day will also include various rituals such as Kankana Dharana, Akhanda Deepaparadhana, Vastupuja, Kalasha Sthapana, Panchavaranarchana, Japanushthanam and parayanam.
At 5:30pm, the Ankuraropana and Agni Pratishthapana ceremonies will take place, while the Dhwajarohanam and Dhwaja Patavishkarana will be held at 7pm.
On all days of the Brahmotsavam, special poojas, including Rudra Homam, Chandi Homam and Nithya Havanam, will be performed for Sri Swamy and Ammavaru. On the second day, January 12, the Vahana Seva will be offered to the deities. On January 14, the Brahmotsava Kalyanam takes place.
On the 16th morning, the Yagapurnahuti, Kalashodvasana and Trishula Snanam rituals will be performed, followed by Sadasyam, Nagavalli and Dhwajavarohana in the evening. The festival will conclude with Pushpotsavam, Sayanotsavam and Ekantha Seva on the night of January 17.
