SCR restores tracks after train derailment in Peddapalli
Warangal:The South Central Railway restored two railway tracks and resumed passenger train services by Thursday afternoon, following the derailment of a goods train on Wednesday. They had earlier conducted a trial run of a goods trains on one track in the morning.
The derailment of the goods train between Raghavapuram and Kannala stations in Peddapalli district on had damaged all three railway tracks on the grand trunk route connecting New Delhi and Chennai. The derailment had led to the cancellation of 39 passenger trains. Another 61 trains, including long-distance services, were diverted through other routes.
The railways have appointed a three-member committee to investigate the derailment of the goods train.
Repairs were carried out under the supervision of SCR general manager Arun Kumar Jain and divisional manager Bhartesh Kumar Jain, involving 1,200 workers.
Clearance and track restoration works were conducted around the clock. Since there was no proper access road to the accident site, a temporary road was constructed to facilitate the restoration efforts.
General manager Jain praised the team of workers for the swift restoration of the tracks and advised them to ensure complete normalcy from Friday onwards.
