SCR Translocates 60-yr-Old Peepal Tree
Hyderabad: The South Central Railways translocated a 60-year-old peepal tree at Rail Nilayam, its headquarters, at Secunderabad, on Monday. The tree is around 40 feet tall and the trunk has a circumference of 3.5 metres.
The SCR translocated the tree to take up construction activity in that space. Previously, the SCR translocated three trees in 2021 at the Railway Coaching Depot in Kacheguda with the help of tree re-plantation experts.
The SCR said they had hired the translocation expert A. Chandramouli, who had a record of successfully treating the famous historic Pillalamarri banyan tree in Mahbubnagar. Specialists used modern equipment and conservation techniques to safeguard the root system.
The tree's growth in its new environment will be aided with 50 kg neem cake mixed with oil content, 180 kg of natural manure and 2 litres of humic acid diluted in 200 litres of water. The new shoots will start growing in the next three to six months.
