Secunderabad's Dhobi Ghat to Feature Modern Sports Facilities
Hyderabad: Plans are underway to transform the dhobi ghat in Secunderabad Cantonment into a sports complex, with cricket practice pitches, badminton courts, a swimming pool, a walking track for seniors, and a seating gallery for spectators. Basic infrastructure such as water facilities and modern restrooms is also set to be included.
Secunderabad Cantonment MLA Sriganesh Narayanan said the initiative aligned with the government’s goal of nurturing talent by providing local athletes with modern facilities for both grassroots training and advanced competitive preparation.
“For years, aspiring athletes have struggled with inadequate training spaces, limiting their potential and opportunities. Athletes said they needed a comprehensive facility that supports multiple sports while ensuring convenience and inclusivity,” he told Deccan Chronicle during a visit to the site on Sunday. He also interacted with several sportspersons on the ground.
