Seven Arrested in Balanagar for Murder of Engineering Student

Hyderabad: The Balanagar police on Saturday arrested seven persons in connection with the murder of an engineering student Shantaiah, 21, at a restaurant here on August 22.

The accused were identified as P. Madhav Yadav, C. Mahesh Yadav, R. Sumanth Chary, N. Mahesh, D. Harish, M. Akhil Kiran Kumar and K. Yeshwanth. Police said that Madhav Yadav suspected that Shantaiah was chatting his (Yadav’s) girlfriend.

On Friday, at around 9.30 pm, the police arrested the accused near Balapur. A knife, blood-stained clothes of accused, six mobile phones from the possession & instance of the accused and three bikes from three accused were recovered.

A case was registered under the BNS, SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocity) Act and Arms Act. Police said the accused and the victim were friends before they fell out.
