Shahdnagar DI Ramireddy suspended for torturing Dalit woman at police station

Hyderabad: In continuation of departmental action with respect to the incident of Shadnagar police station where a dalit woman Sunitha was subjected to a third-degree torture in the presence of her minor son, the Shadnagar Detective Inspector Ramireddy and five other police constables have been placed under suspension by the Cyberabad police here on Monday.

On Sunday, Cyberabad Police Commissioner Avinash Mohanty attached Ramireddy to the Cyberabad headquarters pending an inquiry into the allegations. ACP Shadnagar NCH Rangaswamy was entrusted with the task of conducting an inquiry into the incident. Further action will be taken based on the inquiry report, he said.

Ramireddy tortured Sunitha in connection with a theft case forcing her to confess to a crime. Sunitha, a resident of Ambedkar Colony in Shadnagar, was summoned by Ramireddy to the police station where he tortured her brutally. She claimed that her son witnessed the entire ordeal.
