Shias Flock Ashoorkhanas as Muharram Month Gets Underway
Hyderabad: Marking the commencement of the Muharram month, members from the Shia community offered special prayers at all the Ashoorkhanas, where ‘Alam’s’ were also installed, here on Monday.
During the month of Muharram, the Shia community is dressed in black and moves around without footwear to mourn the martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Hussain (AS), who is the grandson of Prophet Hazarat Mohammed. On the day 10 of Muharram, mourning and special prayers will be on a larger scale.
People thronged to participate in the Majlis congregational prayers at Badshahi Ashoorkhana, Imambara Ashoorkhana, Ashoorkhana Hazrat E Abbas, Azakhana e Zehra and Bibi Ka Alawa.
A sizable number of Shia community people, flocked Ashoorkhanas (501 have been installed) and participated in congregational prayers, according to Hamed Hussain Jaffery, of Ashoorkhana Panjathana.
